Voice from the Pews is a web site ministry dedicated to helping Bible-Believing Christian parents learn about what's really going on in the public schools they think are educating their children.
RC Murray, author of Golden Knights: History of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, was medically retired by the Army in 1992 after repeated neck injuries and a bout with meningitis. This disabled veteran went on to earn an associate's in industrial engineering from Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC, which he used to supplement his bachelor's in language, writing & editing [English] from NCSU, which he had completed in 1982 during a break in service. With this training and three certifications from the American Society for Quality, Murray was able to succeed in a new career as a quality technician and technical writer. But in 2001, he left all that just so he could teach high school English. During the next four years, he fought The System that harrassed him about his high failure rates and low class averages. Despite a stroke and a mini-stroke, he could not be intimidated to read to/for his students, allow so-called diverse learners to leach off motivated AG students in so-called group learning activities or let his students draw pictures or cut out paper dolls [thematic visualization] in place of actual reading and writing [learning]. He returned to being a technical writer for nearly three years then recently accepted a public affairs position as an Army civilian. But he kept a promise to his students and himself to reveal everything he learned in government school classrooms and about government school classrooms. His new book is a fulfillment of that promise.
