Research-based and Field-tested Glossary of Education Terms
“Things that are different are not the same.”
Dr. Mickey Carter
Landmark Baptist College, Hanes City, Florida
Throughout Legally STUPiD, I’ve pointed out how my definition of some commonly used term greatly differs with liberal and international elitists’ definition of that same term. The following list of “Research-based and Field-tested” terms are based on terminology of both modern education theorists and a generation of students they’ve now made into proles through their insidious philosophies, theories and controlling strategies.
This glossary is therefore not to be seen as my words but as much as I can objectively define it their way, these are the words of those who would have us to believe their way is the only way. So, while you’re reading these current education terms, please remember the original meaning or understanding of these terms must not be considered obsolete; the current meaning or understanding is now the only meaning or understanding because “[he] who controls the past, controls the future, and [he] who controls the present controls the past” (Orwell 32). Because we have allowed liberal and international elitists to control the present, they now control the past and to the extent the Lord allows – the future.
Alternative teaching strategies – strategies used by principals and assistant principals to coerce classroom facilitators to adjust their lesson plans and expectations to ensure their class averages remain high and their failing rates remain low. See Non-person.
At-risk students – students who may be forced to drop out of school because of unsympathetic classroom facilitators whose high expectations exceed those authorized by administrators, parents, school board members and teachers’ unions. See Diverse learners and Proles.
At-risk teachers – classroom facilitators whose academic expectations disrupt the education process by requiring actual learning to take place in the classroom. In many states, nearly half of new facilitators will leave education within five years, some voluntarily but most driven out because they refused to be “team players.” See Non-person.
Auditory learner – student who learns best by listening to high-volume CDs of rap, rock, country and hip hop music or the whispers of the student next to him during a test. See Learning styles.
Bible – the most popular, unread book in the history of mankind, which was banned from public schools in 1963, except where non-King James Version, Old Testament-only passages are considered good literary examples of ancient myths. Because the Bible (KJV particularly) could be viewed as an intolerant instrument of hate and disunity, both our liberal theologians and reformed theocrats have worked diligently during the last 125 years to doctrinally dumb it down to a controllable level. Only intolerant extremists actually read the uncensored versions, but we have plans to silence these folks. We call our plan Earth Charter. See Christian and Separation of Church and History.
Big Brother – Big Business, Big Government, Lucifer, the Adversary, the Accuser, Satan, Beelzebub, a roaring lion, the Devil – the god of this world. He’s watching you!
Checking-the-block – student/parent learning strategy by which a student comes to school and attends scheduled classes, sorta completing class work and homework assignments, tests, quizzes, writing assignments and projects – with little or no effort to do anything per instructions or with correct answers/responses. For this minimum effort, he or she expects to receive a minimum passing grade for each course. And, of course, this expectation is precipitated by our very accommodating teaching strategies. [You’re welcome, kids! Remember who to vote for when you’re old enough to vote. But don’t worry; we’ll have those ballot boxes fixed by then so you won’t have to read any complicated instructions.] Those KJV-only fundamentalists would say that Checking-the-block is also the best way to describe the means of earning salvation by works, but what do they know? Knowledge is what saves – our kind of knowledge, of course. Besides, our new bibles, which are based on New Testament manuscripts from our ancient Gnostic headquarters in Alexandria, Egypt clearly teaches that Jesus was not quite equal to God the Father, and so a works-based salvation is necessary. See Gnostic/Gnosticism and Knowledge.
Christian – name publicly applied to those who take the name and remain the same but not to that intolerant group of hate mongers who bicker over doctrine and oppose unity. While preaching about divine love, they try to instill fear of our beneficent parent. In order to go to heaven, they say, everyone must conform to their biased Biblical view and trust in some guy who’s been dead for 1,975 years. We’re all good Christians though, really, except the above mentioned extremists who constantly read and refer to their Bible (particularly the KJV) for all moral and spiritual decisions. They lack the ability to understand our new, tolerant one-world religion because they don’t understand our tolerant one-world view, which is something we just won’t tolerate. This is why our Earth Charter compels us to silence these few for the good of the many through our national and international high court edicts and our top-to-bottom, grass roots publicity campaign to systematically restrict their very right to exist. See Non-persons.
Class averages – evidence used by administrators to validate a classroom facilitator’s effectiveness. Low class averages, for example, prove only one thing: the facilitator is not using effective teaching strategies. But high averages prove the facilitator is doing a wonderful job. See Alternative teaching strategies.
Classroom management – process by which a classroom facilitator presents subject material to his or her class with minimum disruptions by those students who’d prefer not to be bothered with such trivial academic pursuits. In order to manage such students, the facilitator must first explain his or her expectations for acceptable behavior to all students. After a few days, if that doesn’t work, he must explain these same expectations to certain parents. After a few days, if that doesn’t bring about a change in behavior, he may “refer” certain students to the principal or assistant principal who decides (usually within a few days) if the behavior that was unacceptable to the facilitator is unacceptable to the administrator. If the administrator agrees to take the case, these students may be punished with a written warning, in-school suspension (ISS) and on rare occasions, out-of-school suspension (OSS). The latter is usually reserved for students whose behavior has become personally unacceptable to the principal or assistant principle. However, students who curse or threaten or murder the classroom facilitator are dealt with swiftly with one day in OSS. Students who commit these offenses against several facilitators are sometimes assigned several days OSS. See Newspeak.
Common sense – special sixth sense required to understand our modern education philosophies, theories and teaching practices. Those who lack an understanding of our theories and the philosophies behind them lack the sense commonly afforded to those of us who do understand our theories and philosophies. Do you understand? See Gnostics/ Gnosticism.
Different but Equal – reformed Separate but Equal policy accomplished through covert discrimination with such teaching strategies as whole language reading, holistic grading, learning disability labels, learning style labels, group learning, thematic visualization and block scheduling. Using different teaching strategies for different children, we have re-established different expectations and different achievement. See Covert discrimination and Seven Deadly Sins of Public Education.
Diverse learners – code word used in reference to unmotivated, non-reading low achievers. By indoctrinating facilitators to focus on the “needs” of diverse learners, nothing of substance is taught or learned in the classroom, but that way NO CHILD gets LEFT BEHIND. See Proles.
Facilitator – person responsible for creating a classroom that is inviting and conducive for learning, whose teaching strategies are benign but not boring, and whose lesson plans place emphasis on fun not facts. He/she is not the source of information in the room, dispensing gems of knowledge and wisdom but merely the one who facilitates classroom discussions on the matters concerning his/her students, sometimes matters that actually appertain to something that actually has something to do with a particular core course or elective. Although questions are always open-ended and there is really no “right” response, there is, of course, an expected point of view the facilitator leads students to discover – for themselves, of course. See Non-person or Teacher.
Failing rates – ultimate proof that a classroom facilitator’s teaching strategies are not effective when the percentage of students failing a given course exceeds 2 percent of the total class, unless part of those students failing have exceeded the attendance policy. See Absenteeism.
Field-tested – evidence that Research-based experimental teaching strategies have been tried in the classroom and thereby proven that our laboratory rats (your kids) have responded in ways we think positive for our new teaching strategies. Of course, there is no prerequisite that the field-tests have to have been successful to continue testing and experimenting – experimenting with real children in real classrooms, whose real futures will be affected by our experimental teaching strategies. The last 50 years have proven that if we keep at it and pour enough money into it, surely it’ll work – some day. If it doesn’t, we’ll re-name the same experimental teaching strategy and start all over. See Common sense, Reform and Research-based.
GLSEN and/or GSA – Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network and Gay/Straight Alliance, organizations dedicated to the eradication of all those who dare oppose the homosexual lifestyle, especially Bible-believing fundamentalists. These open-minded radicals work closely with our facilitators’ unions to educate your children to accept their way of life. See Terrorists.
Gnostics/Gnosticism – salvation by knowledge – our kind of knowledge, of course. And since we believe only what we do spiritually matters, what we do in our physical bodies does not. This is why we teach that morality is relative and support the current wave of homomania propagated by our friends in academia, big business, entertainment, all levels of government, news media, liberal churches and, of course, subversive organizations. See Constructivists/Constructivism & Deconstructionists/Deconstructionism, Liberals/Liberalism, Knowledge and Socialist/Socialism.
Kinesthetic/tactile learner – student who learns best by the hands-on technique, preferably by getting his or her hands on someone else’s paper, homework or answer sheet. See Group/ Cooperative learning and Learning styles.
Legally STUPiD – unfair description given by former rogue facilitator to those students, parents, school faculty and politicians who go along with our prole producing teaching strategies. Knowledge is the most powerful weapon on earth and should not be forced upon those who prefer not to have it!! This facilitator himself admits many of his students didn’t want to learn, their parents didn’t care if they learned, and school administrators didn’t want him teaching them the core knowledge they needed to learn. The common thread here is choice. The masses choose to be ignorant, to walk in the “mental darkness.” And we’re Pro-Choice!!! Their choice to remain ignorant allows us to shine our “light” in whatever way or direction we would have the masses to go. What’s stupid about that? We think it’s rather clever. See Principals of Newspeak.
Literacy – formerly the most important objective of education was to teach a child to read and write, add and subtract and all that sort of useless stuff; research and field tests have now re-defined literacy as simply the art of communicating with other peoples and cultures and non-Christian religions while developing an appreciation for [not understanding of] language.
NEA and/or AFT – these are our politically active cousins in the education profession, who are sometimes forced to adopt terrorist tactics in order to waylay serious education reform – real reform, not re-named, failed ideas like look/say reading instruction or modular scheduling or Separate but Equal programs that would have us to go back to basics of education where real learning takes place – rather than our Research-based and Field-tested international theories and teaching strategies. See Terrorists and UNESCO.
Newspeak – deconstructive process of controlling minds by controlling language, both of which is done by controlling or limiting vocabulary. By purposely promoting a world view of political and moral issues, we’re able to re-define those issues in the minds of Americans, forcing them to see degenerates as “gay” or murderers as “abortion providers” or Bible-believing Christians as “hate mongering fundamentalists.” In due time, we’ll be able to manipulate the populous into seeing these same Bible-believing Christians as “enemies of the State” and pedophilia or child predation as merely “man-boy relationships.” See Principals of Newspeak.
Non-person – this is what becomes of facilitators who dare to say anything against constructivist philosophies, theories and teaching strategies, or who simply fail to use the teaching methods we mandate. See Dogma and Teacher.
Open-minded – this special doublethink quality is most lacking in our adversaries who believe in moral absolutes and immutable standards. They claim our continuous search for something or someone better is why America has become such an adulterous nation. They, with their Bibles and U.S. Constitution, fail to realize there’s a whole world of wonders and pleasures out there. But those who put their faith in us and believe our academic philosophies, big business game plan, entertainment propaganda, government equivocations, news media diatribe, feel-good religious sideshows and our politically active [some covert, some not-so-covert] cousins are quite capable of following Jesus and Mohammed, Buddha and Jehovah. We’re always looking for a better god, government or partner/spouse. See Principals of Newspeak.
Principals of Newspeak – liberal and reformed conservative academic leaders, big business leaders, the entertainment industry, government leaders, the news media, religious entrepreneurs [liberal and reformed] and subversive organizations. It is our objective to subjectively re-define every public and private issue in America today. We’re open-minded elitists who are absolutely convinced there are no absolutes except what we say with absolute uncertainty. Our tolerance for every kind of free thinking has no tolerance for those who hold to the absolutes prescribed in some insignificant religious book like the Bible or anachronistic political document like the U.S Constitution. The millions of proles who appreciate our kind of liberty depend on us to undermine every American institution, starting with the family. Because we’re the only ones with the right kind of knowledge, our world view isn’t merely politically correct; it’s the only view allowed. See Open-minded.
Quick reference – information made readily accessible to students by students during a major assessment activity. Usually, these references can be located in fine print on the corners of desks, backs of shirts and palms of hands, notebook covers lying next to desks and even on the floor beside desks. Quick references have become so popular, whole education theories have been devised from their use. See Group/Cooperative learning.
Read/reading – no longer the process of decoding ancient symbols called letters and the sounds associated with those letters, which, when combined form words, which, when combined form sentences, etc., all of which said something that made sense. The eyes (or fingers) were required to make contact with these symbols on the printed page as the decoding process took place in the mind, which was extremely tedious for some students who preferred not to use their minds; so, this practice was discarded in favor of having the facilitator decode these symbols for them. That is, the facilitator now reads to/for these special students while they listen – if they want to listen. The actual process called reading is reserved for inner party members only, like yourself. If you’re not an inner party member, that’s okay; Big Brother is watching you!
Research-based – non-scientific method of forming a hypothesis then [re]searching ways to make it look like that hypothesis is valid, even when actual test results and genuine historical data prove it to be invalid. Basically, this is theory based on other theories and supported by a consensus of opinion of those who came up with or support the theory. See Field-tested.
Self-esteem – the most important subject taught in government schools today. Even though this sense of self-worth is even phonier than their inflated grades, students must be taught to believe how they feel about learning is far more important than learning itself. See School.
Separation of Church and History – noble concept legally misapplied in 1947 by some really wise fellahs who misquoted a letter by President Thomas Jefferson to a group of Baptists in 1801. Jefferson wrote the letter in response to their concerns that he might establish the Anglican Church as the Church of the United States and to explain why he failed to recognize a special day of thanksgiving as did Presidents Washington and Adams. The bad history behind this misplaced metaphor began with Jefferson alluding to the religious liberty principles of that Separatist Roger Williams, but it all fell to our favor as it was the first and only time a personal letter was used to set such a huge legal precedent. This little metaphor has adversely affected the public education system by limiting all mention of the beliefs of our founding fathers so that we can now say with great pride America’s intellectual capital is no longer a threat to other nations, and we as a people no longer have any idea who we are or what we believe. Praise be to Allah, Buddha, Brahma and every other god [except Jesus]!!!
Spelin’ – yu no yu can spel anyting younta and et wont mattir cuz mod’rn technolgy will pik up on et and currect et. If not, than dat wont mattir eetha cuz whot mattirs iz whot yu say, not hi yu say et. See Holistic grading or Technology.
Study – you’re kidding me, right?!
Teacher – former sage on the stage, known for his or her unrealistic academic expectations and forceful yet boring way of presenting unnecessary facts, skills and knowledge. As one principal has explained, “At least 98 percent of the problems in our schools can be traced back to a teacher.” Though Comrade Dewey referred to them as “prophets” of the new “social religion,” their importance has diminished. Teachers are being replaced by today’s classroom facilitator who neither teaches nor enforces but merely facilitates a host of fun activities intended to help students feel good about what they could be learning – if they should choose to learn anything, but that won’t happen because little to nothing is being taught anyway. See Facilitator and Non-Persons.
Technology – high tech overhead projectors, digital cable television with VHS and DVD movies and computers in the classroom with programs that edit word documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure and are useful in determining any arithmetic function desired, plus links to the internet which offer information on science, sex, art, history, literature and most anything ever known to mankind. However, the really great thing about this technology is the total dependence so many Americans now have on it because they personally lack these formerly basic skills and knowledge and must now be supplied (rationed) this information by those rare inner party persons who do still have such skills and knowledge because somebody has to program all this information into computers. Should we choose to leave out information about this skill or some other bit (or byte) of knowledge [like we’ve been doing to textbooks and even the bible], who’s to know? Over time, lots of skills and knowledge will be deleted from human understanding, and no one will know what’s missing. Won’t that be good good?! See Gnosticism, Knowledge and Newspeak.
Understanding – a book of ancient myths once described this as departing from evil things, but everyone in his right mind knows there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. The mind, after all, is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell and a hell of heaven. For this reason, we must be careful what we think and heretical thoughts should be policed by ourselves before they have to be policed by the Thought Police. Those who misunderstand these literary allusions do well to misunderstand them, for it riles us to believe that you who perceive the web we weave. So you’d best get your mind right and stop thinking free. After all, it appears what we have here is a failure to communicate. Do you understand? See Gnostics/Gnosticism.
Virginity – although this state of being is still common in some of those so-called Christian schools and home schools, this is rarely a problem in our public schools from the middle [sometimes elementary] school grades upward, where sexually explicit behavior is encouraged to the extent that condoms are provided and where girls are taken to abortion clinics by school personnel without parental consent or knowledge, as if most parents cared! We like to say that students who haven’t experienced at least one case of STD by the 10th grade are prudish, and a girl who hasn’t had at least one illegitimate child by the time she graduates hasn’t learned all the proper social skills and vices necessary in today’s anti-Christian society.
Visual learner – student who learns best by watching TV or movies or playing computer/video games or the answer sheet of the student seated in front of him. See Learning styles.
‘X-lax – comical coffee additive, advisably introduced when the facilitator isn’t looking. Everyone enjoys the fun – except the facilitator.
Yes sir/Yes ma’am – words very rarely heard on public school campuses today, and if they are heard, beware. Patronizing of those facilitators who have high expectations is common and usually followed by some subtle retaliation like Ex-lax in their coffee, personalized graffiti on their dry erase boards, Coke poured on their vehicle or destruction of other, more personal items. See 'X-lax.
Zantac® – classroom facilitators’ favorite after dinner mint, among other “Z” drugs quite popular with government school employees.
Zoo – See Classroom management.
