The Harsh Truth About Public Schools by Dr. Bruce Shortt 

Bruce Shortt's book is one of best I've ever read on America's public school system, and I've read about two dozen of them.  His arguments are backed up with documented facts and statistics, so even those who don't like his message can't deny the truth he reveals.  They'll simply say he's "misinterpreted" the facts or "exaggerated" the statistics.  Not so.  He tells the truth.

Public schools have been on a downhill spiral for over 50 years, but they're only heading where they were intended to go all along.   As Shortt points out, our failing public schools are succeeding in dumbing down millions of public school kids.  That was always the State's objective.  Even worse than what the system ensures kids don't learn [i.e., reading, writing, real science and math skills] is what they ensure they do learn, like moral relativism. In fact, moral relativism is just one of the fundamental doctrines of the State's official religion -- Humanism (a religion per the Supreme Court, 1961, which it backed up with other decisions in 1962, 1963 and 1980 in order to establish Humanism as the favored religion in Big Brother's schools).  Other Humanist doctrines include Darwinism, which has been required teaching per the State since 1959, and socialism, which is the ultimate goal of those behind compulsory public schools going back 150 years ago. We're simply seeing an acceleration of that goal these last 50 years.

Shortt's warning to parents is loud and clear.  Get your kids out of government schools!  Put your kids in a private school or a church-run Christian school or home school them yourself.  But do it quickly while you still can.
